I gave up on running a local LLM as a dev tool on an 8GB iMac. I want to try again on the next machine.

I’m starting by recording the current iMac setup. Mac Studio experiments can begin after it arrives.
Experiments I want to try
- Check memory and storage while several development tools are open
- Run a local LLM alongside app development
- Find a good split between local models and cloud AI
- Try personal agents and multimodal tools in development
- Run the same tasks on the iMac and the new machine
These are plans. I’ll write about results after trying them.
